Hi!

How I Can help You and Your students

Learning Support

I support children and teens from year 1 through secondary school in literacy, maths and humanities, as well as with executive functioning skills. My students often have a diagnosis of ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia and/or autism – but not always. Sometimes, they simply need some support with organization of school work or daily tasks, or additional 1:1 learning of their school curriculum.

Coaching and Mentoring

Educational coaching goes beyond traditional teaching, by helping students take charge of their learning journey. Instead of prioritising a particular outcome (e.g. get a good grade in a certain subject), educational coaching focuses on the process of how to become a self-driven and independent learner. Mentoring encompasses the roles of trusted advisor, guide and role model, both educationally and personally.

School and University Consulting

I work with many families seeking advice for schools in Geneva for their children, whether moving to Geneva or deciding to make a school change locally. I also guide families of teens in secondary school on how to navigate the choices of diplomas and universities, to find those best suited to their children’s needs.

About Me

My name is Kristin Hamilton. After having a successful early career as a lawyer in the United States, I decided to follow a life-long passion and become a teacher. I have a teaching degree from Durham University and a Masters in Education with a focus on Special Educational Needs, from the University of Birmingham in the UK.  I teach students who need support in learning in traditional classroom environments, as well as those with characteristics of dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, and Asperger’s syndrome. For all of my students, I seek to be a mentor and coach, as well as a teacher – my deep desire is to connect with students through empathy and validation, which helps instill trust and in turn, self confidence.
